Thanksgiving!!

Christy and I just wanted to wish everybody an awesome thanksgiving.  We wish we could see all of you, but just know that we're thankful for all your support and friendship!!  I'm going to be home sick during the holidays :)  But we are coming home next month and are super excited!  Maynard and Glenda are out here for Thanksgiving and we are putting them to work.  We are hoping that the weather will be good and we will go exploring in our canoes.  The leaves are all gone but it still has a beauty to it.  I'm sure I will get sick of it after 3-4 months LOL.  We are using our wood fireplace to heat our house a lot and its been fun splitting wood and make kindling.  We are going to have to buy some wood but we will be able to buy a cord of wood for around $130 for seasoned oak so thats not too bad (Just for those that are wondering a cord of wood is 4 ft X 4 ft X 8 ft).  We bought a washer and dryer which is super exciting, we can see clean clothes in our future.  I started our compost heap this last week from the leaves and grass that I mowed on our 3 acres (It feels like more acres when your mowing it all LOL).  We had some excitement at the house last night!!  Maynard was playing with our alarm system to see if he could get the old owners name off the screen and activated the alarm so when they went to leave the house to go to gingers the alarm went off :(  so we tried to flip the breaker to the alarm, tried cutting the power to the control panel and cutting the power from the actual alarm, finally Maynard was able to get ahold of the company and got the alarm to shut off after 30 min. but on the bright side we got to meet one of our neighbors who I haven't met yet.  It was pretty epic LOL and of course I was wearing tie-dye...pity sake I'm always wearing tie-dye at the wrong times :)

Well lots of Love

These are our big purchase for the month :)

Fall Is A Good Time to Change Colors

It been a while but I haven't forgotten about the blog.  We just came back from a trip to Washington DC which was a lot of fun, but it's good to be back and our cabinets are pretty much complete.  If you didn't know Glenda came out for a week and helped me paint our old oak cabinets.  They look pretty GOOD but before I start putting up pictures of the cabinets I want to show you our finished bedroom.

As you can see we haven't found bedside tables that we like yet but thats on our to do list.

When Glenda came out Grammy Pogue also visited us and help us by putting paper lining in all of our bathroom and kitchen drawers.  That saved us a lot of time!!! Thanks Grammy :)  I also bought my first piece of farm equipment...it's pretty sweet I'm still excited about it ;)

Good ol Troy Bilt!!
It starts right up and runs like a champ!!  So I'm in the process of creating our garden plot.  I can't wait till spring :)  The last time we went to the lake house I found the cutest turtle ever!!  The shell was still soft.  I didn't catch to many fish though and my boat was giving me problems :) pitty sake the list never gets smaller LOL!!

So basically I've been working on the house full time and Christy has been working as a full time dentist.  I think I need to find a job :)  It been nice that I haven't had to work while we are setting up shop in our new home but I think its about time I get a job...I think thats why I went to school for 7 yrs.

Okay now what you all have been waiting for the before and after shoots of our new cabinets!!  It pretty exciting to be done with this project but I learned a lot through the process and I could do it even better next time.

The pictures don't do it justice, but it is a big improvement over the old oak cabinets!!
Glenda...It was Worth it LOL

I spent a full week with glenda, then a full week by myself, a couple of long nights with Christy ( I was losing motivation), and two days to put the doors back on and its finally done.  Now I just have to finish cleaning up LOL that might take longer :)  It's starting to look and feel like a home but we still have a lot of work to do...I think we are up to the challenge!!  We miss everybody, we will be back in California in Dec. I can't wait!!  Love you all

Its Been A While!!!

Hey everybody!!!  Sorry I haven't posted in a while but I started to freak about boards and our house closed so Christy and I have been busy!!  We have been cleaning house and painting our bedroom but it's a slow process!!  I found a snake in our garage yesterday evening....the critters begin :)

I was sad I couldn't use the shotgun :(

I took boards last Wednesday so hopefully I'm done with tests for a long time!!  I haven't found out my scores but I hope to get the results sometime this week but I'm not sure if it will happen.  If you read my last post we were having problems with moles in the garden and lawn, since then I've got three of them and so far they haven't come back!!!  But I have moles at the new house so I have to start my own war with the moles on our 3 acres LOL.

Ginger and Ryans Garden has been doing a little better here at the end of the season since the weather is cooling off a little and the watering system is working better and the plants aren't quite so dehydrated.  There is okra, melon, and corn on there way and Ginger has planted a whole bunch of fall crops that should be yummy!!!  We have a garden frog that lives in one of the boxes and we named him Fred...I like Fred!!

I helped install a new spigot by their garden, so watering hopefully will be a little easier :)  It definitely was a learning experience playing with their plumbing in the crawl space, but I got it done and it looks good!!

If you want to experience the fun when we signed our lives away buying the new house you can see a time lapse of the 25ish min it took to sign all the documents before Christy had to be at work.

Thats our Realtor Danny!!

When I'm done painting our new room I'll put up pictures of it nice and finished it will look a lot different then it used too!!  We are excited about our future projects...a little overwhelmed but having fun learning as we go.  Hopefully I will get started working on the garden area and our yard this week but time flys!!  I hope everybody is doing well and I love you all

Last weekend in the Country

Okay so this is what happened last weekend.  On friday we went and signed loan documents....scary!!  and  Ryan took his car to the shop.  So after work got off work I met Christy and drive the bus.  It was fun but the temperature was in the 100's...Christy wasn't to happy that she had to ride with me :)   When we left the loan place we started to drive down the road and a police car pulled up directly behind me...unfortunately he was observant and noticed that my registration was past due!!!  Well he turned on his lights and pulled us over.  Here we are sitting in my bus in 100 degree weather, pull over on the side of the road!!  pitty sake!!  Well he asked for my insurance card...oops no current card!!!  I told him we just moved to Missouri like a week ago and was planning on registering my car but had not gotten around to it.  So somehow I just got off with a fix it ticket!!! Hurray!!  So, I just have to take a current copy of my insurance card to the courtroom and that will fix the ticket.  So no money out of pocket!!! Here is a few picture of the first outing in the bus.

before we got the ticket!!

Just got the ticket

The ticket

Christy not happy with me...LOL

So that was Friday!!  It was pretty amazing...oh, I almost forgot I got out the moped and drove it around the block which was pretty sweet.

Saturday was pretty uneventful other than us going to church for the first time in Joplin...scary!!  It was fun meeting some of the church family and we got to meet Jean and Jess.  Christy and I wanted to go canoeing but Ginger and Ryan said it was to hot.  So we slept the day away, made dinner and played games in the evening.  I was bad and forgot to take the camera to our first church day.  Ginger threatened to wake us up super early to help in the garden the next morning...but she was kind and let us sleep in.  So Christy and I joined them at around 8:30 helping them put in a new watering system in the garden.  Ryan had already cut all the pieces of PVC and ginger was in the process of drilling holes in the PVC.  Ginger was over drilling holes so I took over her job until Christy took over my job.  We were getting things accomplished....Christy was drilling holes, Ryan weed whacking, Ginger weeding, and I dug a hole for their lilac plant.  We do strong work!!!

The New Watering system!!

We almost had the PVC pipe complete but we needed a Hose to PVC connector!!  So we got ready and made a trip into Carthage.  When we left we had some unwelcome visitors :)

Christy and I dropped Ryan and Ginger off at Lowes to pick up a few things and we went to water the plants at our new house.  It was hot!!

We thought Ryan and Ginger would be done at Lowes but nope Ginger had bought new plants!!  Hurray :)

Then we went to Walmart but Christy and I had to stay in the car to keep the plants cool.  Finally we were done but Christy and I decided we wanted to get 49cent cones at McDonald!!! MMMM they are amazing!!

MMM I think I need to go to McDonald!!  Then we got distracted again....we saw a flea market....So we stopped and left Ryan in the car to keep our groceries and plants happy!!  We only bought a few things :)

Ryan though it was funny too!!
But in Gingers defense it was a sweet deal!!  We then went home and put together our watering system.  It worked but not as well as we had hoped :(  With a bit of tinkering we got it to work okay but we plan on putting a water spigot out in the garden so we don't have to fun 200 ft of hose to the garden and hopefully the water pressure will be better.  So we have more projects in our near future.

Christy has been working and seeing more patients this week...exciting!!  I'm taking more practice tests and studying I got 71.5 percent today on my practice exam which is pretty good!!  We are going to Wichita this weekend so we are in for another crazy weekend full of adventure!!  Just to cap off the post I'll show you some deer that I saw in the back yard!!! Come Fall those bucks better be careful!!!!!

In the Country

Well I've been trying to study very diligently but that is way harder than it should be :)  Christy is almost done with her first week at her new job!!!  She has been seeing patients the last few days, which is super exciting!! I have started to reward myself by playing X-box during my study breaks (thank you boys for the awesome wedding present).

I take breaks throughout the day to hunt for grasshoppers....it's the only time I go outside :(  (it's pretty terrible).  Just to add a little country flavor to the post I will show you guys a  picture of Ryan on his tractor...it is pretty sweet!!! I'll post some pictures of our riding lawn mower when we move into the house.

Tomorrow we go to sign loan papers.  It's scary growing up!!  Grandpa Yurth bought us a  trailer, so we are going to Kansas City on Saturday to pick it up or Byron is going to take it to the Lake House so we can get it when we go back down to the lake.

It's looking like we are going to go back to my grandparents the following weekend.  So look forward to some future posts regarding all the stuff we bring back :)  Ginger and Ryan are spoiling up with homemade ice cream in the evenings...and she bought a big crate full of fresh peaches!!! We are having cobbler tomorrow mmmmm I can't wait!!!!  I think we are going to be eating at Gingers even when we move to our new home :)
